Bio
Perdue's medical career began in the United States Navy where he served as a hospital
corpsman while being deployed in the Persian Gulf. After returning to Oklahoma, Perdue
attended the University of Tulsa (Magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and later trained
at the University of Oklahoma (Oklahoma City) physician associate program where he
earned a master's degree in health science. As a national health scholar for the Indian
health service, Perdue spent his first three years providing care at the Northeastern
tribal health system in Miami, Oklahoma. Later Perdue worked in emergency medicine
for over 10 years and earned the certificate of added qualification(CAQ) in emergency
medicine with the inaugural cohort in 2010. Perdue was subsequently invited to serve
as an examination item writer for the NCCPA. While working in emergency medicine,
Perdue served as a clinical preceptor and adjunct instructor at the University of
Oklahoma (Tulsa) PA program. Later he joined OU Tulsa as fulltime faculty and served
in the role of director of didactic education. At OU Tulsa, Perdue was awarded the
Crimson Apple for teaching excellence and the Dewayne Andrews teaching award. Perdue
assumed the role of program director at Northeastern State University physician assistant
program in 2021. In 2024 he completed a Ph.D. in biomedical education (anatomy) at
the University of Oklahoma. His research interests include clinical reasoning education,
cadaver anatomy and point-of-care ultrasound in PA education. In addition to publishing
in academic journals, Perdue also published a chapter in an Elsevier book,
Clinical Reasoning for Physician Assistants: A Workbook for Certification Review and
Practice Readiness 1st Edition.
