Bio
After earning my degrees in the state of Arkansas, I accepted a position at Northeastern
State University in 1995. In the following years I have taught a number of different
courses and guided both undergraduate and graduates in research projects on a number
of topics. I am a field biologist who studies birds!
I study Swainsons Warbler Natural History and Northern Saw-whet Owl migration in eastern
Oklahoma. These projects involve both undergraduate and graduate research projects,
and allow undergraduate students to gain experience with mist-netting, banding, and
other field research skills.
I teach both Introductory Biology Lectures and Labs as well as upper level courses
such as Evolutionary Biology, Ornithology, and Parasitology. My teaching load includes
both laboratory courses and field courses.
