NSU College of Optometry Featured on Upcoming Television Series

TAHLEQUAH The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) will feature Northeastern State Universitys College of Optometry on its Candid Campus program, September 27 at 10 p.m. on OETA Channel 11. NSUCO will be highlighted along with several other health-related institutional programs. The program is the third in a series of 20 produced by the Higher Education Alumni Council of Oklahoma (HEACO), a statewide organization of supporters of the states colleges and universities. Oklahoma State University Educational Television Services is filming the series.
According to Dr. Carlos E. Johnson, president of HEACO, Candid Campus is a series of television programs that will provide the public with a heightened awareness of higher education and acquaint the public with various programs of specific institutions.
Lance Ward and Gwin Faulconer-Lippert will serve as host and reporter, respectively, of the series.
Ward is a former secretary, Oklahoma State Election Board, and secretary, Oklahoma State Senate; executive director, HEACO; administrative assistant to the president pro tempore, Oklahoma State Senate; and assistant to the president, director of Public Information, Oklahoma City Community College (formerly South Oklahoma City Junior College). Under Wards leadership, "Candid Campus" aired during his tenure as executive director of HEACO.
Faulconer-Lippert is a professor of Mass Media Communications who joined the Oklahoma City Community College faculty in 1988. She holds a B.A. in Journalism and an M.A. in Adult, Community and Higher Education from the University of Oklahoma. She was the first 2-year college president of the Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association and has served on the board of the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters. She has appeared on-air on Newsradio 1000 KTOK-AM and OETA for more than 20 years and was one of the hosts of the original Candid Campus. Since 2000, she has hosted the Cash for College TV special on OETA for the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. Professor Faulconer-Lippert has received many important teaching awards including the OKCCC Presidents Award for Excellence in Teaching, a Faculty Fellowship from the National Association for Television Program Executives, and a Master Teacher award from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development.
Additional themes that will be highlighted during upcoming shows include outstanding faculty, health professions, economic development, unique degree programs, college/community partnerships, services to students, technology, business/industry partnerships, physical plant renovations, and special programs for students.
