(TAHLEQUAH, OK) - The sounds of Halloween will have a distinctly jazz sound as Northeastern State University Broken Arrow hosts a Jazz Spooktacular featuring the NSU Jazz Band on October 31. This FREE concert is open to the public and will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Visitors Center Gallery in Building A.
"Halloween and NSU Jazz may sound like an odd pairing, but you may think twice after Oct. 31st," said Arthur White, NSU's new Director of Jazz Studies. "We are excited to bring the NSU Jazz Band visit the Broken Arrow campus for what promises to be an exciting, fun night. I want to invite the Broken Arrow students, faculty, and community to check out this great band. This will be all-treat, no tricks."
The Jazz Band is the flagship ensemble of the jazz program at NSU, and has recently performed with world renowned musicians such as drummer Jimmy Cobb, trombonist Conrad Herwig, and trumpet artist Scott Wendholt. The performance will mark the first time an NSU music ensemble has performed in concert at NSUBA.
"We are looking forward to hosting the NSU Jazz Band in this special Jazz Spooktacular event," said Ed Huckeby, Associate Vice President at NSUBA. "Broken Arrow and Tulsa area jazz patrons are invited to attend this free concert and hear these talented young musicians. We are hoping this is only the beginning for NSU music ensemble performances to be held on the Broken Arrow campus."
Oklahoma's premier regional University, Northeastern State University operates three campuses and offers nearly 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, and Oklahoma's only doctoral program in optometry.
