Bakers, Rolland Honored at Emerald Ball

TAHLEQUAH Three Northeastern State University alumni were honored Saturday, Dec. 2 during the Ninth Annual Emerald Ball.

Drs. Tim (posthumously) and Isabel Baker, of Tahlequah, and Todd Allen Rolland, of Broken Arrow, were the honored guests at the annual scholarship fundraising event held in the University Center Rozell Ballroom.

Lifelong educators, Tim and Isabel Baker were the recipients of the Presidents Award for Community Service. With their devotion to education and Tahlequah through politics, community organizations and volunteer service, the Bakers have left behind a legacy to be built upon by the their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Tim and Isabel are the parents of Tim Keith, Donn Frank, and Bill John, all of Tahlequah.

Outstand Young Alumnus Todd Allen Rolland receives his award during the Ninth Annual Emerald Ball.

A business leader, husband, father and community leader, Todd Allen Rolland was named the 2006 Outstanding Young Alumnus. As president of Summit Financial Group, Rolland leads an established Tulsa-based employee benefits firm. Todd is married to Melinda Ross Rolland, formerly of Tahlequah.

NSU alumna Ellen Ford, of Flower Mound, Texas, was the winner of an emerald necklace, provided by Meigs Jewelry and the NSU Alumni Association. Ford was one of five finalists chosen during the NSU Foundation Reverse Raffle, during which 15 prizes were awarded. Other finalists for the emerald necklace included Darla deSteiguer, of Edmond, Dr. Kay Grant, Dr. John Yeutter, and Don Ross, all of Tahlequah.

The magical holiday evening included dinner, reverse raffle, photos and dancing.
