TAHLEQUAH With the end of 2006 just around the corner, the Northeastern State University Foundation has already surpassed the record number of donations set in 2005 and continues to provide unprecedented support for the institution and its students.
The NSU Foundation works hand-in-hand with the University to provide a broad array of programs and educational opportunities for our students, said NSU President Dr. Larry Williams. With the support of our caring alumni and friends, along with the dedication of our faculty and staff, the NSU Foundation will see record growth in 2006 and beyond.
During 2005, a record 1,610 alumni and friends of NSU made donations, and, as of November 15, the number of donors for 2006 had already reached 1,614. NSU Foundation Executive Director John Gyllin expects that number to continue rising.
Year-end giving traditionally increases during the holiday season, and we are very gratified and excited that people choose to give to the NSU Foundation and let their dollars benefit NSU and our students, Gyllin said.
Gifts received by the NSU Foundation through December 2006 will be credited to this years giving totals and are tax deductible by the donor.
In addition to an all-time record in donations, the NSU Foundation has exceeded $12 million in assets through the continued support of alumni, faculty, staff, friends and community members.
The Northeastern State University Foundation and the offices of Alumni and Development would like to thank everyone who supports NSU, Gyllin said. Every dollar collected by the Foundation contributes to our mission of enhancing the educational experience for our students. You are making a difference.
As part of the NSU Centennial Celebration, the NSU Foundation is planning a capital campaign that will offer multiple opportunities for assisting with programs that serve our students and help the University grow.
We are laying the groundwork now for a campaign that will allow us to significantly increase the number of donors and the total value of assets within the NSU Foundation, said Gyllin.
Support for the NSU Foundation can be provided through cash donations, wills and trusts, charitable gift annuities, endowments, securities and real property, and life insurance.
