NSUBA Students Bring Technology Education To Classroom

Published: 2006-12-13

BROKEN ARROW-- Different ways technology is incorporated into various workplaces brought new understanding of technological achievements to a Tulsa middle school, courtesy of a program put together by Northeastern State University Broken Arrow students.

Eight NSUBA students conducted a Business Systems presentation to eighth- and ninth-graders at Carver Middle School on Wednesday, Dec. 6, as part of a service-learning project for the Principles of Information Systems Class, under the guidance of NSUBA Instructor of Management Information Systems and Marketing Information Technology Kenneth Jones.

It was exciting to listen to what our students have learned about technology while on the job and relate it to the kids in the classroom, said Jones. The kids asked a lot of questions about higher education opportunities.

The students, Andrea Luker, Kelli Collett, Olga Cowan, Jennifer Miller, Nichole Morgan, Crystal Smith, Janet Stroud and Amanda Wulf, presented information on how technology is involved in various non-IT industries, including restaurants, banks, health services, education, and the health care industry.
