NSU Homecoming Events Underway

TAHLEQUAH Theres no party like a Northeastern State University Homecoming Party. The 2007 Homecoming celebration, Rock Around the Clock, promises to be a bash unlike any other.

Running from Sept. 24-29, Homecoming week activities promise to build excitement for the big game as the RiverHawks take on East Central University, the university honors outstanding alumni, and a celebration of Jack Dobbins 60th Homecoming with NSU.

The celebration will honor Teresa Miller, Distinguished Alumnus, Linda Hasler-Reid, Outstanding Young Alumnus, and Dr. Jack Dobbins, Presidents Award for Community Service. These distinguished individuals will be honored during the halftime show of the Homecoming game.

Homecoming activities kick off Monday, Sept. 24 with the annual Street Party for students in downtown Tahlequah from 6-9 p.m. A traditional chili cook-off, pep rally and plenty of entertainment will keep students in the Green-and-White spirit.

Show your NSU pride at the Thursday Night Spirit Rally in downtown Tahlequah on Sept. 27. The evening caps off with a pep rally and bonfire on the lawn at the NSU Fitness Center.

The Tenth Annual Homecoming Golf Event at 10 a.m. and Champagne Bingo at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 28. Play a round of golf or enjoy a game of bingo for a chance to win some great prizes. To sign up or for more information, call 918-458-2143.

On Friday, NSU Career Services and the College of Business and Technology will host a Career afFair and Alumni Teach-In from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Business and Technology Building.

In the evening, join with other NSU alums for the Friday Night Main Event at Town Branch Eatery. Tune up your vocal cords for a night of karaoke while catching up with old friends.

Homecoming day starts off with the NSU Athletics Breakfast at 8 a.m. in the Rozell Ballroom in the University Center. Or stop by the University Center Cafeteria for the Homecoming Brunch at 8:30 a.m. before heading out to find a good seat for the Homecoming Parade, starting at 10:30 a.m.

Following the parade, join the NSU Alumni Association for a Tailgating Party in the parking lot of Doc Wadley Stadium starting at 11 a.m. before cheering on NSU as the RiverHawks takes on East Central University.

Don't miss the crowning of this years Homecoming King and Queen during halftime.

The second post game Come Home To The Dome event, held at the Indoor Practice Facility, promises a good time for all alumni to come together, catch up with old friends, and celebrate a good game. The event will commemorate Jack Dobbins 60th Homecoming with NSU.

The NSU Department of Student Affairs has also planned a number of events for students throughout the week, including concerts, residence hall decorating, karaoke and other spirit activities.
