The Invasion Begins Nov. 8

Published: 2007-10-19

TAHLEQUAH In the Carpathian Mountains of Eastern Europe, an invasion is brewing and the only people who can stop it are an intrepid Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter and her faithful assistant.

This is the tale of The Intergalactic Nemesis, an episodic radio serial drama brought to Northeastern State University by the Sequoyah Institute and Cox Pharmacy. The invasion begins Thursday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the NSU Center for the Performing Arts.

Youre a member of a 1930s radio studio audience. Before you sits the broadcast studio: the Wizard of Ozs antechamber and Frankensteins lab rolled into one. Downstage, the sound effects booth, littered with train whistles, giant metal electrodes, dials, and gauges. The lights fade to black and you're transported to the world of The Intergalactic Nemesis.

The story centers on Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Molly Sloan and her intrepid assistant Timmy Mendez, who are hot on the trail of a story. When a mysterious stranger saves their lives, they discover their journey is inextricably intertwined with his and the story they were seeking is much bigger than they could have possibly imagined! The fate of two galaxies hangs in the balance and our heroes are the only thing standing in the way of a devastating invasion of sludge monsters from the planet Zygon! Its Star Wars meets Raiders of the Lost Ark with a little of Flash Gordon thrown in for good measure. And it rocks!

The spectacle of The Intergalactic Nemesis lies in the power of the audiences imagination. Think Where the Wild Things Are and you have the right idea.

Tickets for the one-time showing of The Intergalactic Nemesis are $20 for adults, $18 for NSU alumni, $16 for NSU employees, $14 for senior citizens, $10 for students and children, and $5 for NSU students. To purchase tickets, contact the NSU Box Office at 918-458-2075.
