TAHLEQUAH The finalists have been picked and Northeastern State University needs your help in selecting the best name for the RiverHawks mascot.

The five finalists Rowdy, Rally, Swoop, Talon and Rodney (Hot Rod) were announced at a special ceremony during the NSU Athletics Player Meet and Greet on Wednesday, Aug. 22.

We received over 120 unique suggestions for the new RiverHawks mascot name from students, faculty, staff and members of the community, said Dr. Neal Weaver, vice president for University Relations. The Mascot Naming Committee narrowed the suggestions down to the final five, which are now being presented to the public for a vote.

Voting will continue online through Tuesday, Aug. 28. The RiverHawks mascot, along with the new name, will be revealed Thursday, Aug. 30 during the NSU football game against Arkansas Tech, which starts at 7 p.m.
