TAHLEQUAH For those that love to sing, dance and make music, here is your chance for stardom.
Northeastern State University will be hosting auditions for the 2007 River City Players on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at the Shawnee Street Theatre in Tahlequah. Dance auditions will follow at 6 p.m.
Produced by NSU and The Sequoyah Institute, River City Players is a musical-showcase featuring everything from classic rock n roll to modern pop hits.
Auditionees will perform 32 bars of a popular song no musical theater. An accompanist will be provided, but CDs with instrumental tracks only may also be used.
We not only have opportunities for young people to perform on stage, but we also staff a full crew of technicians to work backstage throughout the summer, said Robyn Pursley Magee, River City artistic director.
All performers, musicians and technicians receive a stipend for the summer and are eligible to receive college credit hours and a tuition waiver scholarship. All applicants must be age 16 or older.
I am really excited about the shows this summer, said Magee. They will be filled with news songs that we have not performed before, as well as a few classics that are treasured parts of past River City shows.
