Stars in the Summer Series Premiers June 14

TAHLEQUAH The stars will come out June 14 when the 2007 Northeastern State University Stars in the Summer Series premiers. Featuring Downtown Country and River City Players, the summer music extravaganza will delight music lovers of all ages with a blend of country and rock performances.

"No matter what age, people will find something to love at the Stars in the Summer Series," said Megan White, director of The Sequoyah Institute. "We have everything from toe-tapping, chart-topping country hits to high-energy, edge-of-your-seat dance hits."

The River City Players cast will perform two shows this summer, "Rockin' Across the USA!" and "Old Time Rock 'N Roll." "Rockin' Across the USA!" features rock music from across the country, while "Old Time Rock 'N Roll" highlights the greatest hits from the inception of rock 'n roll.

"Rockin' Across the USA!" runs Thursdays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. at the Shawnee Street Theatre. "Old Time Rock 'N Roll" runs Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 2 p.m. at the Shawnee Street Theatre.

The Downtown Country cast is rehearsing for two new shows this year, "Chart Toppin&339; Country" and "Celebrate Oklahoma.""Chart Toppin' Country"brings to stage country music's greatest hits, while "Celebrate Oklahoma" features the music of Oklahoma to honor the state's centennial.

"Chart Toppin' Country" runs Thursdays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. at the University Playhouse. "Celebrate Oklahoma" runs Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 2 p.m. at the University Playhouse.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for NSU alumni and employees, $8 for seniors, and $6 for students, children and groups of 20 or more. For reservations, call 918-458-2075. June is early bird month, with a $1 discount for shows from June 14 through June 30. Shows run through Saturday, Aug. 4.
