NSU Awards Tsa La Gi Trail of Tears Scholarships

TAHLEQUAH Northeastern State University recently awarded several students the 2007-2008 Tsa La Gi Trail of Tears Scholarships. The program is funded by the James and Susie Coats Memorial Scholarship. Each recipient is awarded $500.

The Tsa La Gi Trail of Tears Scholarship is presented to undergraduate college students of Cherokee Indian descent who are enrolled full-time at NSU and have proof of Cherokee tribal membership. Incoming freshmen must have a GPA of 3.0 or an ACT score of 21, or be in the upper 10 percent of their graduating class. Transfer or continuing college students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to apply. Deadline for applications is June 1.
