NSU hosts Illinois River Arts & Crafts Festival

(Tahlequah, Okla.)--Celebrating the imagination and talent of local artists, the Illinois River Arts & Crafts Festival is Nov. 4-6 in the University Center Sen. Herb Rozell Ballroom at Northeastern State University.

Hours are 10 a.m. 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free.

We've already had tremendous vendor response and a lot of talent will be represented at this festival, said Debbie Bond, organizer of the event.

The festival will include vendor booths offering a variety of arts and crafts, from traditional to modern, food and beverages. Items for sale will include handmade jewelry, wooden board games, homemade soaps, candle makers, handmade furniture, wood crafts, scarves, fiber crafts, homemade dyes and sweaters and much more.

Ten-foot square display booths can be rented for $75 for all three days. Vendors of all ages are welcome to apply. Multiple artists may share a booth if information for each is listed on the application.

Vendors will be supplied up to two tables and chairs for set-up, but other items used for displays are the responsibility of the artist.

The Illinois River Arts & Crafts Festival was an annual event for years in the 1980s and 90s. This tradition returned to NSU in 2010 and is a great weekend to meet local artists and choose handmade items.

This is a great opportunity to do some Christmas shopping for unique gifts, Bond said. There will be something here for everyone and the skill of these artisans is wonderful to behold.
