Flo's coffee shop thriving in new location at NSU

Published: 2011-09-22

(Tahlequah, Okla.) Flos, a popular coffee shop and eatery at Northeastern State University, has settled into its new home on the third floor of the University Center.
Originally located in Wilson Hall, Flos temporarily closed when the residence hall was closed in January due to deferred maintenance issues.

We looked at a number of factors and it became obvious that the UC was the best place to reopen Flos, said Tim Foutch, vice president for operations. We had received some comments from faculty, staff and students that the third floor was underutilized. The new location is more centrally located and puts energy back into that space.

With a menu including light breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and wraps, Flos is in demand with the campus community for breakfast and lunch. The change in venue has not diminished the crowds.

Obviously, everyone has found it, Foutch said. Students living in the housing units were informed of Flos new location. There was no need for a high-visibility ad campaign. Flos sells itself.

Foutch said the placement of Flos in the University Center is permanent and that there are no plans to return the restaurant to Wilson Hall.

The move has been a huge success, he said. We have received very positive feedback."

Flos, which offers a blend of cafe and coffee house atmospheres, is open to the public. It is open weekdays from 7 a.m. 4:30 p.m.
