NSU to host National History Day workshop

(Tahlequah, Okla.)--Educators can get a jump start on the National History Day district contest by attending a Nov. 10 workshop at Northeastern State University. Registration for the workshop is Nov. 4.
The workshop is set for 4-6 p.m. in the lounge of the University Center Sen. Herb Rozell Ballroom. Updated contest guides and other National History Day information will be available. Light refreshments will be provided.
The purpose of the workshop is to promote our district contest and provide free materials such as the rule books, said Randall Wagnon, NSU history instructor. We especially want to assist and encourage the participating of those educators who have never had students participate in the contest.
Training will be conducted by Jason Harris, director of education for the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City. He is also coordinator for National History Day in Oklahoma.
The National History Day district contest is April 3 at NSU and open to students in grades 6-12.
Ideas will be presented to teachers, Wagnon said. "We will show how they can help their students develop entries for the contest that fit with this years NHD theme, Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History.
