Northeastern State University RiverHawks will take the field at Doc Wadley Stadium Oct. 15 to cap off an eventful week of homecoming activities.

The football game is the highlight of a fun day of activities for students, alumni, faculty and the Tahlequah community.

Game day activities begin with the Athletic Association Breakfast at 8 a.m. in the University Center Rozell Ballroom. Current and former athletes and their guests may attend. Admission to the breakfast is $10. For more information contact the Athletic Department at 918-444-3900 or visit the Athletics web site.

At 10 a.m., the Homecoming Parade presented by Tahlequah City Hospital runs from downtown Tahlequah to Doc Wadley Stadium. Superhero-theme floats will be the order of the day as superheroes are the theme of the 2011 NSU homecoming week.

A number of events are scheduled after the parade. NSU mens and womens basketball will hold a free-throw shooting fundraiser in Jack Dobbins Field House. The entry fee is $50 and prizes are $1,000 for first place and $500 for second place. Entry deadline is Oct. 1. For more information contact Ted Vancuren at 918-272-3305.

After the parade, interim president Martin Tadlock and his wife welcome lifetime members of the NSU Alumni Association at the Alumni Association Life Member Luncheon in the back yard of the presidents residence. Those wishing to attend the casual gathering are asked to RSVP with the Office of Alumni Services at 918-458-2143 or alumni@nsuok.edu.

The Reunion Tailgate Party begins at 11 a.m. in the north parking lot of Doc Wadley Stadium. Attendees should bring their picnic gear lawn chairs and tables, beverages, snacks, grilling food and a big appetite to celebrate with friends before the start of the homecoming football game.

What a better way to spend lunch than at the Alumni Associations Green and White Network Cook-Out presented by Sodexo. Alumni are invited to this pre-game event under the green and white tent on the football practice field. This event begins at noon.

Highlighting the Saturday schedule is the 2 p.m. football game between NSU and Harding. General admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students ages 4 through high school. NSU students, staff and faculty are admitted free with a validated NSU identification card.

Truth, Justice and the Northeastern Way doesn't end with the football game. At 7 p.m. the womens soccer team takes to Dan F. DeLoache Field to face Central Oklahoma, completing the weeks homecoming events.
