Kremlin brings lengthy lineage to NSU Galaxy of Stars

(Tahlequah, Okla.)--With a track record of two decades, Chamber Orchestra Kremlin is a firmly established feature of Moscows classical music realm.

Noted for its players consummate technique and tonal exquisiteness, Chamber Orchestra Kremlin opens Northeastern State Universitys 2011-12 Galaxy of Stars Series presented by the Sequoyah Institute. The Oct. 25 concert is at the Tahlequah High School Performing Arts Center. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

Were excited to open this season with such experienced, energetic artists, said Amber Cowan, director of the Galaxy of Stars series. Under Mishas leadership, this group will take our audience through an array of emotions and cultural experiences.

Chamber Orchestra Kremlin was formed in 1991 by Misha Rachlevsky and has earned national and international recognition as one of Russias leading ensembles.

The orchestra, which includes some of Russias finest young string players, has established itself with highly-acclaimed CDs and mesmerizing concerts. Chamber Orchestra Kremlins warmth and high energy create exciting performances that stay with listeners long after the concert.

Since its founding Chamber Orchestra Kremlin has maintained an active schedule of Moscow performances and regularly tours the Americas, Europe and east Asia. The orchestras repertoire includes classic compositions and the sounds and spirit of Russia.

Now 20 years old, Chamber Orchestra Kremlin can claim a devoted Moscow audience, an award-winning catalog of more than 30 CDs and increasing international popularity and invitations to perform at concerts and festivals.

The orchestra will perform Gioachino Rossinis Sonata for strings, Sergei Prokofievs Visions Fugitives, Op. 22, Pyotr I. Tchaikovskys Serenade for Strings and other pieces and solos.

A Learning LIVE matinee performance will also be offered to area schools at Tahlequah High School Performing Arts Center at 1 p.m.

The Learning LIVE performance is a great opportunity for students in our community to be introduced to classic compositions and Russian history, culture, language and traditions, Cowan said. Teachers can creatively utilize the performance as an external classroom and introduce a different culture to their students.

Individual ticket prices are $20 for adults, $18 for NSU alumni, $16 for NSU employees and seniors 60 and over, $10 for students and $6 for NSU students.

Respective season ticket prices are $80, $72, $64, $40 and $24. A Favorite Four package is available for $60, $54, $48, $30 and $18, respectively.
