Ribbon cutting planned for NSU's Second Century Square

(Tahlequah, Okla.) A ribbon cutting for Northeastern State Universitys Second Century Square is slated for a forthcoming date in November. Though the square, between the University Center and the Business and Technology building, awaits its ceremonial opening and some final construction, it is quickly proving popular.
It is already attracting the students, said Tim Foutch, NSU vice president of operations. It has become a gathering place for weddings and civic groups, so it is already becoming a focal point within the community.
An arched entryway will be constructed to the east side of the square in time for the ribbon cutting; however, the square will not be complete until an awning is placed over its stage.
We are considering several awning styles and trying to make the right selection, Foutch said. A couple of factors we must consider are the shape of stage and the obstruction of sight lines. We don't want to block any sight lines across the square.
Second Century Square is constructed as a multipurpose space for concerts, Greek life events, campus tour stops and daily gathering. The area includes Culver Courtyard, Garrison Memorial Fountain, the stage, Second Century Clock and greenery.
