NSU Alumni Association organizes snow-tube gathering

Published: 2011-11-14

(Tahlequah, Okla.)--Snow may not yet be falling in most of Oklahoma, but it is not too early to plan winter activities.

Northeastern State University Alumni Association invites families to attend snow tubing at Bricktown on Dec. 4 from 2-4 p.m. The gathering will be Chesapeake Energy Snow Tubing at RedHawks Field in Bricktown. RedHawks Field is located on S. Mickey Mantle Drive in Oklahoma City.

"This is a unique activity and it is something different from anything the Alumni Association has done in the past," said Daniel Johnson, director of alumni services. "Erin Feller, our alumni events planner, brought us this idea. She has been very creative in coming up with new and exciting events for our alumni to attend."

Riders can slide to second base from the upper deck on a man-made snow hill. A smaller slope is available for children and the more cautious. An individual must be at least four feet tall to take a tube down the large slope.

"A big reason for us selecting this event is that it is so family friendly," Johnson said. "Even if you don't want to ride a tube down the snow slope, you can catch up with your old NSU friends while your kids burn off some energy."

The slopes are outdoors, so anyone attending should wear warm clothing regardless of whether they intend to hit the slopes.

Tickets are $10 per person the session and concessions stand will be open and offering sandwiches, desserts and hot beverages.

For information or to purchase tickets call the Office of Alumni Relations at 918-458-2143. Tickets can also be purchased online on the NSU Alumni web site.
