Collier named dean of NSU College of Business and Technology

(Tahlequah, Okla.)--Northeastern State University has announced Dr. Roger Collier as its dean of the College of Business and Technology.
Collier has served as the college's interim dean since July 2011 after the retirement of Dr. John Schleede. He will continue to serve as interim dean until formally assuming the new title on July 1.
"Dr. Collier has wide support from faculty and staff in the College of Business and Technology, which was clearly communicated to us during the search process," said Provost Martin Tadlock. "His invitational and inclusive leadership style was constantly referred to by his colleagues as a strength that he will bring to the position."
Collier said he was "pleased and honored to be named the college's new dean.
"The faculty and staff of the College of Business and Technology are extraordinarily talented and committed to the success of our students," he said. "I look forward to supporting their efforts, to advocating for them in the university and to representing them to NSU's constituencies."
Collier joined the NSU faculty in 2000 as an associate professor of finance, arriving from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. He was named professor in 2008. He chaired the Department of Accounting and Finance from 2004-09 and was an Academic Affairs Fellow in 2011.
While at UCO, Collier received the Excellence in Teaching award from the College of Business Administration in 1998-99. He was also named an honorary member of Delta Mu Delta, a national honor society for business administration programs. Prior to teaching at UCO, he taught at East Central University in Ada during the 1994-95 academic year.
In fall 2000, he served on the international needs subcommittee of the NSU-Broken Arrow Transition Task Force. He also was a member of the International Business Seminar Planning Committee a joint venture of NSU, the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, Tulsa Community College and the Oklahoma Department of Commerce in 2001-02.
Collier earned a bachelor's degree in architecture in 1980 and a master's of business administration in 1986 from the University of Arkansas. He received his Ph.D. in finance from OSU in 1994.
