TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- As part of Northeastern State University's homecoming week, "Oh the Places You'll Go! From NSU," Continuing Education will host the Little Miss and Mister RiverHawk Pageant on Oct. 5.

The pageant is in the Center for the Performing Arts at 4 p.m.

"The Little Miss and Mister RiverHawk Pageant is intended to give kids a fun way to enjoy homecoming at NSU," said Rylee Ketcher, coordinator of Continuing Education and professional development. "We want to instill the NSU spirit in the children of our alumni and the community. It is a fun and natural pageant with no experience required."

Contestants can compete for crowns and sashes in each category, and all participants receive a prize. Winners will be announced Friday evening during the Alumni Association North End Homecoming Street Bash at The Branch. On Oct. 6, the winners are invited to participate in the homecoming parade, and the overall king and queen are crown bearers during the traditional halftime coronation ceremony.

Rachel Farinelli, director of Continuing Education, said the pageant will be casual, "but still have some glitz," and invited parents to enter contestants ages 1-16.

"This pageant will incorporate former kings and queens of NSU homecoming, Miss Northeastern and Mr. NSU so we maintain the links to our past, present and future in creative ways," Farinelli said.

Contestants compete in five age categories. Competitions include NSU Spirit and Party Attire. The Picture Perfect Photo competition is optional. Entry fee is $25 per contestant. An additional fee of $15 is required for the photo competition.
