NSU ROTC Cadets Participate In Fall Training

Published: 2006-11-20

TAHLEQUAH Northeastern State University Army ROTC Cadets recently participated in the annual Fall Field Training Exercises (FTX) at Weddington Woods, Arkansas in the Ozark National Forrest.

Approximately 28 cadets attended the weekend training session, held Oct. 24-26. Students started the FTX by riding in a military helicopter to training area. Cadets also did plan navigation and situational training to assess their leadership, along with a paintball exercise.

The FTX provides cadets with an opportunity to demonstrate leadership, decision-making and problem solving skills in a tactical setting, said Major Jason Junkens, Assistant Professor of Military Science.

The ROTC program was re-established at Northeastern in 2003, and is part of the College of the College of Liberal Arts. For more information about the ROTC Program or to enroll, contact Major Junkens at 918-456-5511, ext. 3066, or by e-mail at junkens@nsuok.edu.
