(Tahlequah, Okla.)--Kevin Taylor, a veteran employee of Northeastern State University, has been named the institution's director of information technology and chief information officer and will assume his new duties July 1.

Taylor has served as director of enterprise systems and associate CIO. He has worked for NSU since 1998, serving in technical and nontechnical roles including software development, system and database administration, process improvement and project management.

"I will oversee NSUs Information Technology Services and provide leadership to support the technology needs of students, faculty and staff across the university," Taylor said.

The appointment was announced June 26 by David Koehn, vice president for business and finance.

"I am very excited about Kevin taking over the leadership role for Information Technology Services," Koehn said. "Kevin is very well respected on campus, and I look forward to continuing the progress we have make in technology services under his leadership."

While director of enterprise systems, Taylor was an active member of NSU's Banner Implementation Leadership Team. He played an integral role in the enhancement of academic and administrative technologies through the integration of third party systems. Banner is an administrative software application developed for higher education institutions. It maintains student, alumni, financial and personnel data.

Taylor holds a bachelors degree in computer science from NSU and will receive his masters degree in business administration from NSU in spring 2013.

"The Information Technology Services staff are committed to providing outstanding service and support to the university," Taylor said. "It is an honor to be asked to lead such a talented and dedicated team."
