NSU music faculty to host fundraising recital

Published: 2012-11-07

Music faculty at Northeastern State University will present their annual gala recital on Nov. 10 to benefit the Department of Performing Arts Music.

Taking place in the NSU Center for the Performing Arts, the gala begins with a silent auction at 6:30 p.m. and the recital following at 7.

"The university music faculty and selected scholarship students will perform," said Dr. Anne Watson, assistant professor of music. "It is rare to have our international faculty performing at one event on one stage. Our annual gala is the only time this happens."

General admission tickets are $10. Students presenting an NSU ID are admitted for $5. Tickets are available for advance purchase or at the door.

"All types of classical music will be performed during the recital," Watson said.

Admission includes access to the silent auction, the evening performance and refreshments.

Items and gift certificates for the silent auction are donated by area businesses and individuals. There will be an array of offerings and something for everyone. Attendees age 21 and older may take part in a wine pull. The music department is requesting a $25 donation from participants. Each bottle of wine in the pull is worth at least $25.

All proceeds from the event go toward student scholarships and guest artists.
