TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Dave Bennett, the jaw-dropping clarinet prodigy alongside jazz singer, Carol McCartney and Bennetts All-Star Septet will mix Benny Goodmans big hits and swing-era classics on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the NSU-Tahlequah Center for the Performing Arts in the third show of this years Galaxy of the Stars Series.

Unlike other clarinet virtuosos, Bennetts musical influence is not just that of Goodman and Roy Orbison, but also Alice Cooper, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Chris Isaak. The combination of artistic inspiration found in a multitude of artists gives Bennett the creativeness to fuse serious jazz improvisation with a host of modern pop, thus creating his signature sound.

Bennett who is known for covering some of the most famous hit records of the 1930s, such as Goodmans hits: "Moonglow," "Ive Got Rhythm," "Body and Soul," "Slipped Disc," "Sing, Sing, Sing" and updating them with his own twists and surprising new arrangements; will bring to life the music of The King of Swing with incredible technique, expression and sensitivity. The result is a performer that blazes his own path, while still acknowledging his predecessors. Bennett creates a spotlight of the jazz clarinet for a new generation.
