TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Wine no longer is something to be merely sipped but spread instead thanks to Northeastern State University graduate and entrepreneur Corey Carolina. The alumnus todeliver this years Battenfield-Carletti Distinguished Entrepreneur Lecture at the Tahlequah campus on Oct. 9.

In 2002, through the NSU Foundation, Dr. Harold Battenfield and the late Dr. John Carletti established the Battenfield-Carletti Distinguished Entrepreneur Lecture Series. Through this series NSU alumni are invited back to campus to share their entrepreneurial experiences with current NSU students.

Carolina will return to his alma mater to discuss how he was able to make his dream a reality. This Tulsa native is the creator of Toasted Wine Fruit Spreads, which are prepared with actual fresh fruit and wine. He took the cooking skills he was taught by his grandmother and combined them with a passion for food to create his own line of specialty foods. While Toasted is the first product he has released, Carolina assures there are more to come. Toasted Wine Fruit Spreads can now be purchased in more than 50 retail locations.

Carolina was a recipient of the 2004 Whos Who Award while at NSU and graduated that same year with a bachelors degree in Business Administration. He earned a masters degree in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Oklahoma. Carolina also holds a National Managers Food Certification and was most recently named a top six finalist for the Tulsa Community College StartUp Cup, an annual competition among local entrepreneurs. He currently resides in Tulsa with his wife Quianna and daughter Elle.
