Don Williams to perform Oct. 14

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Its time to tip a hat to country hit maker Don Williams. The Gentle
Giant will perform at Northeastern State Universitys Center for Performing Arts Oct.
14 at 7:30 p.m.
The concert is the second in the 2013-14 Galaxy of the Stars series.
Williams is known for creating music that comes from experience, and as he has matured so have his songs, which now have a deeper emotional resonance than ever before. His straightforward simplicity, laid-back easy style and commanding presence make him appeal an array of audiences. Williams is not limited by national or genre boundaries, instead he cuts right across them all. His songs evoke the depth of feeling and emotion that ordinary people are capable of, no matter where they are from. His songs are the perfect combination of emotions, conveying stories of a man who has obviously lived life.
Each year between 1974-91, Williams had at least one major hit, including Good Ole Boys Like Me, Till the Rivers All Run Dry, It Must Be Love, Im Just a Country Boy, Amanda and I Believe in You. He was the Country Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year in 1978, his Tulsa Time was the ACM Record of the Year for 1979 and in 2010, Williams received the industrys highest honor and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
