Green and White Weekend is April 18-20

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Honoring outstanding students and showcasing RiverHawks athletics, Green and White Weekend will be celebrated April 18-20 at Northeastern State University.

"Green and White Weekend showcases our student athletes as well as students excelling in academics and campus activities," said Peggy Glenn, director of development and executive director of the NSU Foundation."We also are hosting fundraising events benefiting NSU's women's soccer team and our football team as it celebrates it 100th year next season.We look forward to seeing students, parents, alumni and community members at these various events, since there is definitely something for everyone."

Green and White Weekend begins Thursday with the "Run for Your Colors" 5K color run, beginning at Centennial Plaza at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit the NSU women's soccer team. For information contact NSU women's soccer coach Chase Wooten at 918-822-4859.

The activities continue with the 45th annual Honors Assembly on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the University Center Sen. Herb Rozell Ballroom. NSU students will receive certificates to recognize Academic Achievement, Student Activity, Honor Society and Whos Who.

Academic Achievement awards will be presented to the outstanding student in each academic discipline. Student Activity awards will be given to the outstanding student in each campus-approved organization or activity. Honor Society awards go to students with high grade point averages and participation in at least two campus organizations or activities, along with Who's Who Awards to students listed in Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.

Saturday begins with the Redmen/RiverHawk Golf Tournament and Reunion at 8 a.m. The fundraiser for the NSU football program is at Cherry Springs Golf Course and more information is available by calling Paul Lane at 918-444-3917 or writing to lane@nsuok.edu.

The 2013 Ovation Ceremony is at 10 a.m. in the Rozell Ballroom. Sponsored by First-Year Experience, the Alumni Association and the Office of Student Activities, it recognizes outstanding seniors, freshmen and Hall of Fame recipients.

Spring football practice closes with the annual Green and White game. The scrimmage is at Doc Wadley Stadium at 3 p.m.

NSU faces Oklahoma Wesleyan in men's soccer at Dr. Dan F. DeLoache Field at 1 p.m. The Women's Soccer Alumni Game follows at 3 p.m. and the Men's Soccer Alumni Game is at 5 p.m.

Also included in the Saturday sports schedule is a baseball doubleheader with Nebraska-Kearney at Rousey Field at 1 p.m.
