Hoop teams close out Jack Dobbins Field House era on Feb. 27

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- The Northeastern State mens and womens basketball teams will play the final regular season games inside historic Jack Dobbins Field House on Feb. 27. Northeastern State basketball is set to move into its new home in 2013-14, with the $14.4 million events center on track to debut next season.

The regular-season finale will be contested against long-time rival Central Oklahoma. The women will begin their game at 5:30 p.m., and the men are approximately scheduled for an 8 p.m. tip.

Any person who has ever played, coached or cheered inside JDF is being encouraged to attend the event that has been dubbed The Farewell to Jack Dobbins Field House.

There will be a ceremony following the womens game that will begin with Senior Night for the current NSU basketball teams. Following Senior Night will be the recognition of all those in attendance who have played or coached inside JDF throughout the 58-year history of the facility. The conclusion of the between-games ceremony will be the honoring of the 2003 mens basketball national championship team.

Jack Dobbins Field House has been home to NSU mens basketball since fall 1955. The lower gymnasium was added in 1954 and was renamed Jack Dobbins Field House in 1994. The womens basketball teams also began playing inside JDF in 1979.

Commemorative T-shirts have been made for the event and are being sold for $10. They can be purchased inside the Athletics Administration building or at any of the remaining home basketball doubleheaders. All proceeds will go toward the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
