TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Tulsa jazz musician Mike Bennett and the Northeastern State University Jazz Ensemble will perform together for a pair of concerts in Tulsa and Tahlequah with the second show concluding the 2012-13 Green Country Jazz Series.

Bennett, a trumpeter, and the NSU Jazz Ensemble perform at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame on April 7 at 5 p.m. and in the NSU Jazz Lab on April 8 at 7 p.m.

Bennett has been a first-call jazz performer in the Tulsa community for decades, said Dr. Tommy Poole, director of jazz studies.

Bennett brings years of talent and jazz experience to the concerts. He is popular in the Tulsa area but not exclusively a Tulsa performer.

He has also performed at the Topeka Jazz Festival with Jeff Hamilton, Bucky Pizzarelli, Bill Charlap and the Clayton Brothers, said Poole.

The Jazz Ensemble is comprised of NSU students who will join Bennett with trumpets, saxophones, trombones, piano, drums, bass and guitar.

The Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame is at 111 E. First St., Tulsa, Okla. Tickets are $10 for members and seniors, $15 for general admission and $20 for reserved table seating. To make reservations call 918-281-8609
