Master Plan meetings launch analysis phase

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Various community members, faculty, staff and NSU students recently gathered to discuss the progress of the Master Plan on all three campuses.

The three-day meetings in January focused on the master planning process, the discovery phase summary, environmental scan, campus site analysis, framework plan and next steps.

The discovery phase summary highlighted such areas as NSUs mission and identity, the role of the three campuses and online learning and the relationship to the region. Also, academic needs, student and residential life, athletics and recreation, circulation and parking were also discussed as it relates to all three campuses.

Various statistics were highlighted during the environmental scan portion of the presentation. Then current parking trends and other campus site analysis was shared with the audience.

Following a question and answer period, next steps were discussed. The master planning team will return for the idea generation phase in mid-March. This will include campus and community open houses as well as meeting with the steering and advisory committees on the Tahlequah, Broken Arrow and Muskogee campuses. Times and dates of meetings will be announced prior to the arrival of this team.

The first campus meetings were held in October, 2012 by SmithGroup Behavioral Consulting LLC, Dewberry architectural and engineering consultants and Paulien & Associates, Inc. planning consultants.
