Master Plan meetings scheduled for June 25-26

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- As Northeastern State maps its course for the future, the public is welcome to attend meetings on all three campuses to hear summaries and reviews of the preliminary Master Plan.

The Master Plan is NSU's strategy for building the physical resources to support the university's mission and vision. The primary purpose of the meetings is to review and refine the Preliminary Master Plan. Committees will meet to discuss the current visions, alternatives and consensus for moving forward.

During the meetings and open houses, the NSU campuses will be visited by SmithGroup Behavioral Consulting LLC, Dewberry architectural and engineering consultants and Paulien & Associates, Inc. planning consultants.

"This is the second set of meetings in what is the Master Plan's refinement stage," said Tim Foutch, vice president for operations. "These will summarize the input we have taken from previous sessions to create the initial draft of the plan. We now want to fine tune these ideas and concepts with further input from contributors from on and off campus."

The Tahlequah campus meetings are June 25 in the University Center Ballroom Lounge. The day opens at 9 a.m. with Foutch discussing the campus visit overview and the setup of the Steering Committee meeting, which follows at 10 a.m. The Steering Committee will review the preliminary Master Plan.

After lunch, the preliminary Master Plan will also be reviewed by the Tahlequah Advisory Group, which will meet at 1:30 p.m. The Tahlequah campus open house is 5-6 p.m.

An open house is scheduled at the Muskogee campus on June 26 from 9-11 a.m. in Room 148 of Administration.

The open house for the Broken Arrow campus and community is in the annex of Administrative Services on June 26 from 1-3 p.m.

"It is a critical time for involvement we are in the stretch run, if you will," Foutch said. "We will make decisions about what elements will become permanent in the Master Plan. We encourage people to attend, even if they have not attended previous meetings. It is not too late in the process to make your voice heard."
