NSU art professor awarded Best of Show

(Tahlequah, Oklahoma) -- Lance Hunter, a Northeastern State University professor of art, received the Best of Show Award in the Pittsburgh Watercolor Societys 70th Annual International Exhibition, Aqueous Open 2016.
Hunter received the prestigious award for his painting A Will to Play II that was included in the exhibition that was open Oct. 1 through Oct. 22. The painting is featured on the watercolor societys website as the cover of the 2016 exhibition catalog.
Hunter also received the Creative Catalyst Award in the New England Watercolor Societys 2016 North American Open Show. The NEWS exhibition was in Gloucester, Massachusetts from Sept. 25 through Oct. 29.
"These distinguished awards have become normal recognitions for Professor Hunter's work, said Dr. Phil Bridgmon, dean of the NSU College of Liberal Arts. Our students are the beneficiaries of such a strong and accomplished faculty led by Professor Hunter."
Hunter is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society. He has received 14 awards in national and international watercolor exhibitions in the last three years.
Hunter received a Master of Fine Arts in painting from Stephen F. Austin State University. He teaches painting, watercolor and figure drawing classes at NSU.
