TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- The annual Big Event at Northeastern State University is March
29. This one-day service event allows RiverHawk students, alumni, faculty and staff
to say thank you to members and businesses of the Tahlequah, Okla. community for their
continued support.
The Big Event mission is to bring the campus and community together. Local businesses and residents of the Tahlequah community are encouraged to request a job to be performed by NSU volunteers. Jobs include anything from painting, raking, weeding, cleaning, washing windows, working school carnivals and much more.
Anyone can participate in The Big Event and there are three ways to do it: job request, volunteer or sponsor. Those interested as volunteers can sign up in groups of 10 or less, or as individual volunteers to participate in the day of community service. Sponsorships are welcome throughout the year and may consist of anything between a small sample from a local store to a check made out to the NSU Foundation with Big Event in the memo line.
The Big Events operating costs are put toward promotional items, recruitment of volunteer participants, resources for creating awareness of the event, and all necessary tools and supplies (rakes, shovels, paper towels, work gloves, t-shirts, meals, etc.) for the day. Without the generous giving of NSU supporters and the local community, much of what The Big Event does would be impossible.
To make a monetary contribution or donate supplies to The Big Event, call the NSU Office of Student Activities at 918.444.2526.
For questions regarding The Big Event or to register as a volunteer, please feel free to contact the NSU Office of Student Activities at 918.444.2526
