TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Northeastern State Universitys Greek community put on its Fifth Annual Greek Sing on Saturday, April 4. The show was sold out and the students raised a total of $11,531.75 to donate to local 5-year-old Payton Swim and her family.

Greek Sing is an annual fundraiser and competition between NSUs Greek organizations. Each fraternity is paired with a sorority to perform various musicals. The four teams work toward a common goal while enjoying some friendly competition.

This years proceeds will help the Swim family pay for medical expenses. Swim was born with Spina Bifida; then at the age of 3, doctors diagnosed her with PNET cancer on her spinal cord that spread to her brain. Swim was in remission for two years after undergoing intensive chemotherapy and stem cell transplants, but doctors told her the cancer had returned with the same diagnosis in January. As a result, Swim has to undergo chemotherapy again.

The theme for this years Greek Sing was From Broadway with Love and the audience saw performances from Grease, Burlesque, Mamma Mia and Beyond the Headlines.

Not only did ticket sales assist with proceeds, but crowd favorite boxes did too.

Last year, the Greek community raised $6,185.96 through Greek Sing and donated the proceeds to Tahlequah Public Schools for school supplies.
