TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- The time has come for the 2014 NSU River City Players auditions. Interested performers should plan to attend the auditions, which will be at the NSU Playhouse at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014. The River City Players is a popular music revue series that presents three productions each summer season. Performers are paid and may also enroll in a course to gain upper division course credit at NSU.

Although the series is produced by the NSU College of Liberal Arts, performers do not have to be NSU students, but must be at least 18 years old. NSU students do not have to be involved in performing arts programs or activities to audition. All that is required is the ability to sing and dance well.

We are looking for high caliber singers and dancers, explains Anita Thompson, Director of the Sequoyah Institute. We set the bar pretty high regarding the quality of our performances and we have no intention of lowering that standard any time soon. Our audiences have come to expect that quality and we certainly plan to deliver.

Those auditioning should prepare one verse and one chorus of three different songs in the following genres: one country, one '70s/'80s, and one '50s/'60s. There will be no piano available, so CD accompaniment will need to be provided by the auditionee. Musical theatre pieces are not acceptable for the audition.

The auditions are split into two parts. A closed individual vocal audition, followed by a group dance audition. Those auditioning should bring suitable shoes and clothing to change into for the dance audition. If necessary, callbacks will be held following the dance audition.

Headshots and rsums are accepted, but not required. All auditionees will fill out an audition form prior to the audition. Hired performers will be contracted May through August and must be available for all performance dates and rehearsals.
