(Tahlequah, Okla.) The nominations have been received and reviewed, and 10 new individuals have been selected to be honored as 2015 Northeastern State University Centurions. They are: Dr. Thomas Lee (T.L.) Ballenger, NSU faculty (deceased); Don Cunningham, NSU faculty (deceased); Dr. John de Banzie, NSU faculty; Ron Evans, 1960 and 1964 alumnus; Dr. Mark and Bonnie Giese, NSU faculty members; Rhonda Clemons-Hill, 1986 and 1989 alumna; Debbie Lipscomb, community supporter; Suzanne Myers, 1984 & 1993 alumna and NSU employee; Kelly Ross, 1956 and 1962 alumnus; Randy and Patty Skinner, Patty, 1976 alumna.

In celebration of NSUs Founders Day 2015, these 10 new members will be added to the roll of NSU Centurions and will be honored during a special luncheon on March 6 at 11:30 a.m. in the Herb Rozell Ballroom at the NSU University Center, Tahlequah.

Since selecting 100 individuals as inaugural recipients of the Centurion Award during its Centennial Celebration in 2009, NSU has added 10 names to the Centurion list each year. The honors are given to NSU alumni, faculty, staff, students or any member of the NSU community whether past or present who impacted the life of the nominator, the Northeastern community, or the public at large. A Centurion can be living or deceased and should embody the legacy and spirit of NSU.

An NSU Centurion is an individual whose leadership and commitment, in the course of helping others, has made a significant impact during the university's history. A Centurion honoree may come from any walk of life. Educators, administrators, staff, coaches, entrepreneurs, civic leaders, athletes, entertainers, community supporters and other notable alumni have been honored.

NSU Centurions include country music superstar Carrie Underwood, Tuna Trilogy co-author and co-star Joe Sears and former state attorney general Drew Edmondson. Other honorees such as former NSU athletic director Dr. Jack Dobbins, historian Beth Herrington and entrepreneur Jeff Reasor have also been recognized for making a difference in the NSU community.
