(Tahlequah, Okla.)--It is time to mark your calendars for Northeastern State Universitys Green & White Weekend, April 9-11. This weekend is a fantastic opportunity for students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and community members to come together to recognize academic excellence, spotlight athletics, make memories and have fun.
Thursday, April 9
The Run for Your Color 5K at 5:30 p.m. jump starts the weekend festivities. This event supports the NSU Womens Soccer team. For more information regarding this event, contact Coach Chase Wooten at 918-822-4859.
Friday, April 10
NSU Softball have games against University of Central Missouri at RiverHawks Park at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.Womens Tennis has a match with Washburn University at NSU Tennis Complex at 2 p.m.
The 47th Annual Honors Assembly begins at 7:30 p.m., where current NSU students will be presented with Academic Achievement, Honors Society and Whos Who awards. This assembly will take place in the University Center, Sen. Herb Rozell Ballroom. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m.
Saturday, April 11
The Ovation Awards beginSaturdays events. The award ceremony will recognize Outstanding Seniors, Outstanding Freshmen and NSU Hall of Fame recipients at 10 a.m.in the Sen. Rozell Ballroom of the University Center.
The 6th annual Presidents Circle Reception will be from 12 2 p.m. in the NSU Event Center. This invitation-only reception will honor all of the outstanding philanthropic support for Northeastern State University and induct new members into the society.
The NSU Softball team will play Southwest Baptist University atNoon and 2 p.m. at RiverHawks Park. The Womens Tennis team will take on Emporia State University at 2 p.m. in the NSU Tennis Complex.
A Family & Friends Reception, sponsored by the NSU Parent Program will be held in the University Center Ballroom from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Light refreshments & hors d'oeuvres will be available.
The days events will wrap up with friendly competition by the NSU fraternities and sororities in the annual Greek Sing contest at 6 p.m. at the NSU Center for Performing Arts. Greek members from both the sororities and fraternities will split up into three separate teams to perform their musical selection and compete for the title of Greek Sing 2015 champions. This year the Greek community is raising funds for longtime Baptist Christian Ministries leader Debbie Lipscomb who is battling cancer.
