NSU Jazz Studies Program releases first ever jazz combo CD

Published: 2015-07-07

(Tahlequah, Okla.)-- This spring, Northeastern State Universitys Jazz Studies Program, the NSU Jazztet, released Out Front, a compilation of 11 tracks.

The CD features 10 original compositions. Four to seven musicians were a part of each set.

The NSU Jazztet consists of Joe Barger, tenor saxophone, Austin Stunkard, trumpet and flugel horn, Tommy Poole, alto and soprano saxophone, Nick Meena, guitar, Hiroki Ohsawa, piano, Matt Butler, bass and Katy Peacock, drums.

Although previous NSU Jazz CDs have been created with works from the NSU Jazz Ensemble and guest artists, Tommy Poole, director of the Jazz Studies Program, feels especially proud of this work.

Its nothing short of amazing what these NSU students have done here. I hope that folks will go online, sample the tracks and order themselves a copy.

The CD is $12.97 for a hard copy or $9.99 for the downloadable version. Individual songs are also on sale at 99 cents each. Proceeds of the CD sales will go to the Jazz Studies Program, and can be found at cdbaby.com.
