NSU’s Sequoyah Institute hosts summer shows by River City Players

(Tahlequah, Okla.)-- Northeastern State Universitys Sequoyah Institute presents the 2015 River City Players show line-up that will run from June 11 Aug. 1 at the NSU Playhouse, located at 300 N. Muskogee Ave., Tahlequah, Okla. 74464.

The River City Players is a popular musical series that presents three productions each summer season. The shows for the 2015 season include: Honky Tonk Hits, Twistin Time and Generations of Rock.

Honky Tonk Hits takes the audience into a jukebox-esque experience, featuring iconic country anthems like Friends in Low Places, and Help Me Make It Through the Night. This show runs Fridays at 7:30 p.m. The July 10  show is already sold out.

Twistin Time is a trip down memory lane, and onto the dance floor, for many. The River City Players are performing all the top classic rock and roll hits from the 50s and 60s, including works by Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Nancy Sinatra, The Beach Boys and the Supremes.

This show is available on Saturdays at 2 p.m.There is no show on July 4, and the June 27, July 11, andJuly 18 performances are already sold out. Twistin Time is also be available for two matinee experiences onJuly 17 and 24.

The River City Players pay homage to the music that has defined rock and roll throughout the past decades with Generations of Rock.

Music spanning from the 60s to the early 90s lead the performances, appealing to rock and roll fans of all ages. Audiences can view shows on Thursdays and Saturdays at7:30 p.m.There is no show onJuly 4.

The RCP cast includes performers: Audra Martin, Siloam Springs, Ark.; Anderson Daniel, New York City, hometown Tahlequah; Hansen Johnson, Tahlequah; Victoria Garrett, Lawton; Adam Childress, Haskell; Sydney (Jennings) Rappe, Tahlequah; Michael Rappe, Muskogee; and Tori Giles, Fort Smith, Ark.

Show are made possible by the hard work of both the cast and crew, which includes the band, technicians, artistic team and those working the front of the house.

The River City Players very first show began at NSU in 1983. It combined the best of popular music, Broadway hits, gospel and everything in between. Now in its 33rd season, River City continues to showcase the vocal talents and musical styling of the Tahlequah area community.

The daytime box office is available Monday through Friday,8 a.m. 5 p.m. at the Woods House at 529 Seminary Ave. Tahlequah, Okla. 74464. 

The Performance Box Office is open one hour prior to each performance and is located in the NSU Playhouse lobby.

Tickets are $13 per adult, $11 per NSU Alumni and NSU Employees, $10 seniors and groups of 12 or more, $7 for students and children, and free to NSU students who present a valid NSU Student ID.
