NSU Wind Ensemble promises a night to remember- Apr. 23

Published: 2015-04-17

(Tahlequah, Okla.)-- On Thursday, April 23, at 7 p.m.the Northeastern State University Department of Musicwill present a concert by the NSU Wind Ensemble at the Center for Performing Arts.

It will feature Roger Hoverson, flute, winner of 2014 NSU Concerto Competition, as well as some first-time collaborations.

It will be an exciting night for music, Dr. Norman Wika said, NSU director of band, and one of the events organizers.

Hoverson shared Wikas enthusiasm for the performance, saying I am most excited about this concert because I will be performing as a soloist with the Wind Ensemble.

Hoverson will be graduating in May, so this will be his last performance with the Ensemble.

This ensemble has helped me grow so much since I first was a part of the ensemble in 2010, so it will definitely be a bittersweet event for me.

Muldrow High School Band, Adam Pool, conductor, will perform three pieces, followed by NSUs ensemble, leading up to a combined finale.

Also for the first time, NSUs Wind Ensemble will perform a combined piece with the NSU University/Community Chorus. The UCC is under the direction of Dr. Jeffery Wall, NSU director of chorale studies.

I expect it to be a very special performance that people will not want to miss, Hoverson said.

Tickets are $5 for adults, and $3 for seniors and students, available beginning at 6:30 p.m. from the CPA Box Office.
