NSUBA to host “The Glass is Half Empty”
Published: 2016-10-03
(Broken Arrow, Oklahoma)--Katie Pernu, Broken Arrow art teacher and former museum educator, will display her show, The Glass is Half Empty at Northeastern State Universitys Broken Arrow campus beginning Oct. 4 and displaying through Nov. 6 in the Visitors Center Gallery within the Administration Building.
Pernus show will include pieces from her collections of glass on glass mosaics.
My glass mosaics are best when light passes through themsunlight, candle light or electrical lighting, Pernu said. I sometimes mix in other materials such as agates, geodes, buttons and beads to add interesting textures to my pieces.
Pernus largest glass mosaic hangs in the Visitors Center Gallery as a permanent piece dedicated to the late David Gordon. Pernu was commissioned by Regent Jan Gordon, David Gordons wife, through the NSU Foundation to create a piece that was named The Lighting of a Fire. The piece was dedicated on the Broken Arrow campus on Aug. 20, 2012.
Show attendees are asked to sign the guestbook and leave their contact information. One lucky guest will win a small mosaic created by Pernu.
