Clean Line Energy rewards NSU scholars with interest in renewable energy

(Tahlequah, Oklahoma)--Full-time Environmental Health and Safety seniors at Northeastern State University who have a demonstrated interest in a renewable energy career and/or the preservation of American Indian Tribal culture, are eligible to apply for a new scholarship provided by Clean Line Energy.

Officials at Clean Line Energy met with the NSU College of Business & Technology to present a $2,500 scholarship donation on Sept. 8.

Trish Williams, Oklahoma outreach associate for Clean Line Energy, said Clean Line Energy is not only dedicated to projects that are environmentally beneficial, they also want to be good neighbors to the areas where their projects cross.

Clean Line believes that promoting education and doing our part to help those students who share some of the same goals as Clean Line, our dedication to environmental and cultural preservation, benefits everyone. Clean Line has always encouraged and promoted students through scholarships, mentoring and internships, Williams said.

The $2,500 scholarship will be awarded toan NSUstudent studying Environmental Health and Safety Management. The student must also have a 3.0 grade point average. The scholarship is designed in recognition of the need for college graduates who have studied and understand environmental, cultural and health impacts and safety management techniques in large-scale construction projects, as well as the importance of partnerships with universities near such projects, including NSU.

Dr. Roger Collier,deanof the College of Business & Technology, said the college is very grateful for the generous scholarship donation by Clean Line Energy.

This scholarship will provide assistance to students studying environmental health and safety management, Collier said.

The support from employers like Clean Line helps the college provide students with a high quality education and valuable employment opportunities.

Applications will be accepted through the NSU Office of Student Financial Services. Selection recommendation will be made by a committee comprised of individuals chosen by Collier and will include the head of the Environmental Health and Safety Management program.
