Sequoyah Institute announce 2016-2017 Performing Arts Series

(Tahlequah, Oklahoma)--The Sequoyah Institute at Northeastern State University has been presenting national touring artists to the Tahlequah campus and community for the past 30 years. The 2016-2017 season of the Performing Arts Series again promises to be a quality lineup. The Capitol Steps, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Franc DAmbrosio, Montana Repertory Theatres Barefoot in the Park, Charles McPherson and the Annie Moses Band will each take the stage during the year at the NSU Center for Performing Arts.
The Capitol Steps kicks off the season on Oct. 10 as they perform What to Expect When Youre Electing a musical political satire presenting the headlines of the day. On Nov. 1, award-winning American singer, songwriter and musician, Mary Chapin Carpenter, comes to Tahlequah to perform music from her latest album and classic favorites. Traditional Christmas songs will ring in the holiday season on the Sequoyah Institute stage when Franc DAmbrosio, longtime Broadway Phantom, performs his Christmas from New York show on Dec. 2. The dynamic Montana Repertory Theatre touring company will travel to Tahlequah to perform the play that put Americas master of comedy, Neil Simon, on the map Barefoot in the Park on Feb. 23. On March 6, Charles McPherson and band will perform as the culmination to the NSU Green Country Jazz Festival. Closing the season, the Julliard-trained siblings who make up the Annie Moses Band perform The Art of the Love Song showcasing love songs written over the decades.
Each performance this season is unique. We have worked to provide musicians and entertainers that are in the top of their field, Cindy Chanslor, Sequoyah Institute coordinator, said.
We have poured over artists looking for the right fit for this community and I believe we have found the perfect combination.
Season tickets are the most economical way to enjoy the season with a 20 percent savings for purchasing full season tickets, 15 percent savings for the Pick 4 option, or individual performance tickets are available at $20-$35 for adults, $18-$33 for NSU alumni, NSU employees and seniors over the age of 60, $8-$20 for children and special discounts for NSU students with valid NSU ID.
Group discounts are also available.
