NSU dean appointed to ACHE national board

(Broken Arrow, Oklahoma) -- Northeastern State University College of Extended Learning Dean Eloy Chavez was appointed to the Association for Continuing Higher Educations National Board of Directors during the associations annual conference in Portland, Oregon, Oct. 23-25.
Chavez will serve a two-year term as one of seven national board members.
Chavez has been in higher education administration for more than 35 years. He received his doctorate at Oklahoma State University, masters at the University of South Carolina and bachelors at the University of New Mexico.
He is a graduate of the competency-based National Association for Campus Activities Association and has received numerous awards for programming, diversity and inclusion initiatives, student engagement and leadership. He has also authored articles on diversity and higher education, including a writing award received through Association of College Unions - International. He sits on the Tulsa Regional Chamber Mosaic - Diversity and Inclusion board, Workforce Tulsa board and participates on many civic committees.
As dean of the NSU College of Extended Learning, Chavez oversees credit online programs and coordinates the production of many continuing education and professional development programs. Programs produced through the college have received national and international recognition by the ACHE, Learning Education Resource Network and Health21 Magazine.
NSUBA will host the 2018 ACHE Great Plains Regional Meeting on March 8 and 9. The theme of the conference will be Adult Learner: Imagine the Workforce Future.
