Northeastern State Universitys College of Education is hosting the Starting New at Golf Scholarship Fundraiser Tournament on Sept. 8 at the Burnt Cabin SNAG Golf Course. The fun-filled day begins at 9 a.m. Lunch and SNAG golf equipment are provided.
Somewhere between miniature golf and regulation golf, SNAG is a modified version of golf thats designed to teach the fundamentals of the game and aid in skill development, Dr. Vanessa Anton, interim dean of the College of Education, said.
The family friendly tournament will be hosted at a private golf venue in the natural beauty of the Burnt Cabin/Lake Tenkiller area. This fundraiser is unique in that 100 percent of player and sponsorship funding go to the scholarship account through the NSU Foundation since the course, food and equipment are donated.
We started this event in 2013 not only as a fundraiser, but as a time for community members to come out and have a fun day with their families, Anton said. You can sign up as a team, as a sponsor or as an individual player. Or, you can just come out and show your support by enjoying the day with us.
Teams consist of five players with six teams competing in the morning and six teams in the afternoon. Registration fees are $125 per player. Hole sponsorships are available at $500 for gold, $250 for silver and $150 bronze.
