Landry to serve as NSU interim provost

(Tahlequah, Oklahoma) -- Dr. Debbie Landry will serve as Northeastern State Universitys interim provost and vice president for academic affairs beginning July 1.

The announcement follows Dr. Mark Arants acceptance of a provost position at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky.

During his tenure at Northeastern State, Dr. Arant has provided an academic vision for our future that will be articulated for years to come through the Higher Learning Commission Quality Initiative and other means, said NSU President Steve Turner. He has championed several new academic programs that closely align the university with the needs of the business community and has helped build academic alliances that will reap rewards in the future.

Landry has been with NSU since 2005 and has served as dean of the NSU College of Education since 2012.

In addition to her service to NSU, Landry has a leadership role in several organizations. She is a member of the Governors Education Advisory Committee, a national program reviewer for the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, and she serves as the Oklahoma Legislative Committee Chair for Oklahoma Association of Colleges of Teacher Education. Landry is a former state president for OACTE, and has served as a team member on the Board of Examiners for the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. She is a member of the State Department of Education Task Force in 2015. Landry has numerous other activities, involvements and memberships in professional societies.
