Events to commemorate 79th Anniversary of Kristallnacht

(Tulsa, Oklahoma) A series of community events commemorating the 79th Anniversary of Kristallnacht will feature a documentary screening and presentation by Pierre Sauvage, an Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker, child survivor of the Holocaust and child of Holocaust survivors.

First Responders to the Holocaust, a 79th Anniversary Kristallnacht Commemoration featuring Pierre Sauvage, will begin at 2 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Jewish Federation of Tulsa, Sylvan Auditorium at 2021 E. 71st Street.

A live stream of the presentation will be shown at Northeastern State Universitys Tahlequah campus in the Webb Building, Room 614.

During the presentation, Sauvage will discuss how the world responded, or failed to respond, to the Holocaust. Sauvage will also focus on the American response to the crisis, showing clips from his upcoming documentaries And Crown Thy Good: Varian Fry in Marseille and Not Idly By: Peter Bergson, America and the Holocaust.

This program is free and suitable for adults and youth in sixth grade and above. No reservations are required.

Weapons of the Spirit, a documentary created by Sauvage, will be shown Saturday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. at Circle Cinema, 10 S. Lewis Ave.

These events are a collaborative effort by the Tulsa Council for Holocaust Education, Tulsa City-County Library, Circle Cinema, Northeastern State University, Jewish Foundation of Tulsa, and NEA Big Read.
