NSU recognized by OCPRA for communication and marketing projects

(Tahlequah, Oklahoma) -- Four Northeastern State University employees earned honors during the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association conference on July 17.

Peter Henshaw, university photographer, Elizabeth Peterson, graphic artist, and Don Vieth, director of Athletics Communications, brought home the Grand Award in the Sports Poster Design category and Levina Patterson, graphic artist, earned an honorable mention in the Logo Design category.

Public and private universities and colleges throughout Oklahoma competed for awards in categories encompassing visual, written, oral and web development projects. The 2017 OCPRA conference and competition was held at the Downstream Resort and Conference Center in Quapaw, Oklahoma.

Contest entries were produced during the 2016-2017 school year and submitted to OCPRA judging coordinators. NSU Communications and Marketing staff attending the conference included David Joplin, director of Communications and Marketing, Katie Barton, media coordinator, Carrie Moore, communications specialist, and Jacqueline Falk, graphic artist.

"NSU is fortunate to have very talented employees at our university, so it was no surprise to me to hear that four of our staff recently won honors from the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association, NSU President Steve Turner said. I offer them my congratulations and thanks for their efforts."

OCPRA was founded in the late 1960s to promote higher education for the purpose of enhancing Oklahomas economy and quality of life for citizens. NSU has been an active participant for more than 30 years.
